This sword is categorised as a kattī or a rapier. Such Indian hilts are usually attached to slender curved blades, but here it is mounted on a European rapier blade. Very close to the hilt, the blade has an orb and cross mark that probably signifies the triumph of Christianity over the world. The hilt is in the form of a parakeet head with a knuckle-guard and is chased with a floral pattern.
